Termite Inspections

Purpose

Conduct termite inspections to a professional standard (AS 3660 framework). Use Formitize for reporting. Only licensed timber pest inspectors may conduct termite inspections.

Tools

  • Probe/tapper, high-output torch, moisture meter; thermal imaging if available.
  • Ladder/roof void access equipment; PPE; camera/phone for photos.
  • Chalk/markers for mapping (do not mark client surfaces without permission).

Time Allowances

5+ bed 120+ min Allow extra for outbuildings/land

Inspection Sequence

  1. Client interview: history, activity, renovations, landscaping changes.
  2. Exterior: slab edges, weep holes, garden beds, timber in ground, moisture sources.
  3. Interior: skirtings, window/door frames, wet areas, joins; sound suspect timbers.
  4. Roof void/subfloor: workings, damage, leaks, ventilation; look for trails from plumbing/electrical.
  5. Conducive conditions: drainage, leaks, stored timber; risk rating and recommendations.

Inaccessible Areas & Limitations

  • Document areas not inspected (locked rooms, low roof pitch, stored goods).
  • Where evidence is suggestive but not conclusive, recommend invasive investigation with client consent.

Reporting in Formitize

  1. Complete termite inspection template with photos and diagrams.
  2. Provide recommendations: monitoring, rectification, management systems (barrier or baiting).
  3. Attach report to ServiceM8 job and brief the client.
